Code of Conduct

We Appreciate:

Calmness

Co-operation

The enjoyment of each others company

Behaviour which leads to others feeling comfortable

We do NOT Condone:

Smoking

Swearing

Aggression in any form either by word or action

Discrimination of any type

To support our principles and promote an atmosphere where enjoyment can thrive, we ask that:

Adults remain present at club events and no less than two adults shall be present and responsible for the majority of children at any one time.

If, for any reason, a child does not wish to participate in events, their responsible adult is asked to supply a quiet alternative. (A space is set aside for such use.

We ask that parents do not use any form of physical punishment or humiliating punishments such as a "naughty" chair.

There be no specific promotion of any political or religious group, although political or religious education is acceptable, ONLY if more than one religion/ political belief system is explored at any one time

Conflicts

Disputes between children are rare, usually short-lived and sorted out amongst themselves. If adult intervention proves necessary we suggest the following guidelines:

Offer independent non-partisan help.

Only intervene physically when there is an immediate danger of a child hurting either themselves or another child.

When both sides of the conflict have calmed down a little, give both sides an opportunity to tell their side of the story, and to explain to each other how they feel about what has happened.

Adults are expected to teach by example, showing good manners and consideration at

all times. It is expected that if a conflict situation occurs between adults the same guidelines should be followed.

We are all responsible for the running and well-being of F.L.A.G.S. and as such, there is no one person who has to carry the responsibility for implementing these guidelines. Joining F.L.A.G.S. means accepting these guidelines and shared responsibility.

All adults are invited to contribute in some way to the planning and organisation of events and to share in the tasks which go towards making our group a success.
