NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM

DIAMONDS EXHIBITION.

The diamonds exhibition was really cool. There were lots of diamonds, one of which was the millennium star. This was the diamond at the centre of the attempted robbery at the Millennium Dome. It was very beautiful and you can see why people wanted to steal it.

After we had been through the diamond exhibition, we went through to the section that told the story of the history of diamonds and diamond mining.

It covers everything from how diamonds are formed and why, right up to how and where they are mined. It explained why some diamonds are different colours.

It also explained how much diamonds are used in industry and in the medical profession.More experiments are being carried out to make new operating equipment using diamonds.

There was also a section showing how diamonds can be made artificially using extremely high temperatures. Some people are now having diamonds made from their loved ones ashes. I think that is a good way to remember some body, but it is very expensive at the moment.
